Elevation is a site-specific immersive audio play I am writing in collaboration with breaking Barriers CIC, with audiences listening to the stories of Blackstone Edge on the Rochdale Moorlands using binaural headphones.

Initially brought onto the project as a poet for an R+D, I soon found a comfortable voice to represent the mountain observing the inhabitants of the town below. My writing will be performed by residents from the town and will be interspersed with interviews from Rochdale’s inhabitants- playing at the boundaries between reality and fiction, the political and the personal. The piece asks the audience to elevate above their contexts and consider their relationship to nature and themselves, it is very much an experience of being alone together.
